A menudo en las descripciones de los colegios de secundaria o institutos de Irlanda que os mostramos en nuestro amplísimo directorio, mencionamos que pertenecen al CEIST, ó que están administrados por dicha “organización”. pero ¿que es CEIST?
CEIST es el acrónimo de Catholic Education, un Irish Schools Trust, y como su propio nombre indica es evidente que estamos hablando de escuelas católicas, centro de la educación irlandesa.
Son en total cinco las congregaciones religiosas católicas dedicadas a la educación secundaria en Irlanda que conforman el CEIST, y que durante más de tres siglos y medio han ofrecido educación en Irlanda: Hijas de la Caridad, Hermanas de la Presentación, Retiro de las Hermanas Cristianas, Hermanas de la Misericordia, y las Misioneras del Sagrado Corazón (Daughters of Charity, Presentation Sisters, Sisters of the Christian Retreat, Sisters of Mercy, Missionaries of the Sacred Heart).
Estas cinco congregaciones religiosas aunan en esta organización de colegios católicos de Irlanda el espíritu de sus Fundadores, con el objetivo de proporcionar un nuevo marco moral y legal de administración que permita a sus colegios de secundaria o institutos irlandeses continuar ofreciendo educación católica postprimaria en el futuro como una opción viable y como parte integral del sistema escolar irlandés.
La consecuencia de esta gran unión de colegios en este único núcleo administrativo de colegios de Irlanda ha dado como resultado la posibilidad de encontrar colegios en prácticamente todos los condados del país, Muchos de los cuales se precien de estar en privilegiadas posiciones dentro de los rankings de colegios de Irlanda, destacando por su rendimiento académico además de por el porcentaje de aprobados en los exámenes del leaving certificate, y de matriculaciones en educación posterior universidades o colegios de educación terciaria de Irlanda.
Es por ello que son tantos como 96 colegios los que pertenecen a esta asociación de colegios católicos irlandesa, Muchos de los cuales se pueden ver en detalle en nuestro directorio de colegios de Irlanda, y que listamos a continuación:
